New Developments:

  • On the evening of 11/11/17, I received an order of protection filed by Kristian “Asere” Bello.
  • You can read more about the order of protection here.
  • After receiving the order of protection that did not fully detail the truth (that I had received emails from Asere and Kana back in April) I decided to really come out and tell my story and I refuse to be silenced.
  • Even prior to the order of protection, I’ve not had time to update the site but will do so as time permits. However, I will continue to try to keep everyone updated on:

Reminder:

We are here – this site is here because Asere Bello is a master manipulator and liar. He has used his influence and abused his “power” to cover up the unethical things he does.

We are here because Asere Bello tried to use me as a way to bring impressionable and emotionally/financially vulnerable young women into the house.

We are here because ignorant people decided that it was easier to call me bitter and jealous instead of practicing true community accountability. But as many of you know, calling a woman bitter and jealous just because she speaks out against a man is nothing new.

We are here because many of the people supporting and protecting Asere Bello have never dealt with their own trauma and toxic past.

We are here because him being a spiritual leader, community organizer, program director, etc. who uses the term “ethical slut” to mask what he does and how he does it is dangerous and problematic.

We are here because the young women (in their early 20’s) he surrounds himself with are awe struck and have no idea what they’re getting into.

We are here because no one wanted to believe that Asere Bello “the charismatic community leader” could possibly do anything wrong.

We are here because when the situation was brought to the attention of others (well-known activists, employers and organizers) they didn’t want to get involved although they make a living talking about injustice.

We are here because this identity (of organizer, activists, victim, etc.) is all they have.

We are here because there is a toxic, irresponsible and dangerous “poly” culture in “movement circles” on the rise and is being sold to vulnerable young women as the new “it” when essentially it’s not poly at all, but another way to exploit them for their bodies, time and emotional labor.

We are here because a couple of the men and women who once came to me for help (on various things) but now act like they don’t know me, were secretly hoping he would select them (aka Pick Me’s). And what they didn’t know was I knew all along.

What REALLY goes on in these “social justice” circles

Hitting my lowest point and thinking I was crazy and that I might have just been imagining things, I started reaching out to many Sisters I knew who were still deep in organizing. Turns out, all had experienced similar and/or had stories of many other (mainly) women who had experienced what I’d gone through.

But what does one do with all of this? How do you address when you’ve never been one out there in the public eye with the bullhorn? Who do you turn to for advice, support or resolution? Even I, who has close connections with Black Psychologists had nowhere to turn for “help.”

The answers eventually came to me and I’ll share more on that later, but for now, I wanted to share this because it is a very serious matter that f*cks up our ability to really “be free” and liberated.

Folks roll into crews, and roll right back out after getting a taste of the dysfunction. And rarely if ever are sustainable movements or foundations built.

Until we get real about our own stuff in our own communities, start holding folks accountable and stop cosigning to folks BS, this will continue.” Continue reading at —  (Part 1) Anguish, Organizing, Activism: Great Rise? at courtneycrosslin.com
